bjcarne writes in to commend Jon Ramvi and his team, who have delivered their first stable release of Ubuntu Eee, an Ubuntu version customized for the Asus Eee PC. "In December Ubuntu Eee started as a one man project, but [over] the last months several people have joined in on the development. We're trying to achieve something which [hasn't] been successful for any other Linux distribution yet: a OS targeting a single computer which includes the best applications available. This means people can buy this really cheap computer and easily get a great OS on it for free. Ubuntu Eee is just for the Asus Eee. Ubuntu Eee is smaller, faster and we're bringing people the cutting edge of technology (while being stable and free of course)."Read more of this story at Slashdot.

The Eclipse C/C++ Development Tooling (CDT) is one of the most well-known open
source environments for C/C++ development, and its full-featured debugger plays a large
role in its popularity. What isn't as well known is that the CDT framework can be
extended to support custom debuggers. With the right plug-in, a custom debugger can
access the full spectrum of the CDT's graphical debugging environment: code-stepping,
watchpoints, breakpoints, register contents, memory contents, and variable views. Learn
how to construct this plug-in, with a focus on the C/C++ Debugging Interface (CDI).

you will develop a hypothetical application for managing patient information at a
doctor's office. You will get a taste of the individual strengths of each
technology, but you will also see how to integrate them together. In Part 4 of the
series, you continue to develop XForms for the doctor's office including an all new form to look up patients by last name.
